General Medicine Program — Sechenov University

Sechenov University is the first medical university in Russia and one of the largest centers of medical education in Europe. Over more than 260 years, the university has built a strong clinical school, producing generations of high-level doctors, researchers, and scientists.

Today, the university is open to international students from Nigeria, Ghana, and Cameroon, offering the General Medicine program in both Russian and English. About the General Medicine Program

The program belongs to the Clinical Medicine field, is full-time, and lasts 6 years. Graduates receive the qualification of physician.

In the first three years, students study humanities, natural sciences, and medical-biological disciplines. This forms a strong scientific foundation and develops key skills: clinical thinking, communication, and teamwork, which are especially important for future doctors from Africa, where interdisciplinary collaboration plays a significant role in medicine.

From the fourth year, training focuses entirely on medical disciplines: obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, internal and infectious diseases, surgery, anesthesiology, emergency and military medicine. Students learn to diagnose, choose optimal treatment, work with patients in critical conditions, conduct prevention and rehabilitation, and perform various medical examinations, including forensic medical expertise.

Practical training takes place at the N.V. Sklifosovsky Institute of Clinical Medicine — the largest medical faculty in Russia with 49 departments. Students have access to 21 clinical bases, ensuring continuous practice and immersion in real medical work.

Admission for International Applicants

Admission is possible remotely. Applicants must provide a secondary education certificate and pass entrance exams:

• Chemistry: 55 points
• Russian language: 55 points

Students who choose to study in English take an English language test. The university’s International Department supports international students at all stages — from submitting documents to adapting to the educational process.

Tuition Fees

Tuition starts from 1,250,000 ₽ per year. It includes lectures, practical and clinical classes, access to modern simulation centers, and participation in scientific projects.
